Wedi&#8217;m dylanwadu gan hyrwyddiad Dubuffet o &#8216;Art Brut&#8217; (celf &#8216;amrwd&#8217; gan artistiaid heb eu hyfforddi), fe wnes i osgoi hyfforddiant ffurfiol mewn celf a cherddoriaeth, gan ddewis datblygu dulliau mynegiant anghonfensiynol a pharhau i fod yn hunanddysgedig yn y b\u00f4n. Dilynais fy niddordebau mewn llenyddiaeth ar lefel academaidd, gan arbenigo mewn safbwyntiau nad ydynt yn Orllewinol mewn llenyddiaeth America Ladin ym Mhrifysgol Lerpwl lle cwblheais PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mae fy ymarfer lluniadu wedi&#8217;i wreiddio mewn awtomatiaeth ac mae&#8217;n adlewyrchu fy niddordeb mewn cosmogon\u00efau. Mae llun fel arfer yn dechrau gyda marciau wedi\u2019u gwneud ar hap sy&#8217;n ffurfio sylfaen ar gyfer cronni llinellau hunan-fyfyriol, sy&#8217;n cymryd si\u00e2p mewn ymateb i&#8217;r ystum mympwyol cychwynnol gydag ailadrodd cronnus. Mae&#8217;r newidiadau rhythmig sy&#8217;n amlwg drwy&#8217;r broses hon yn eu tro yn cynhyrchu ffurfiau hunan-barhaol \u2014 ffurfiau yr wyf weithiau&#8217;n ymhelaethu arnynt i awgrymu dimensiwn ffigurol neu fythig i&#8217;r patrymau sydd fel arall yn haniaethol ac yn hunangynhwysol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rwyf hefyd wedi dychwelyd at arddull braslunio ffigurol fy mhlentyndod, gan ddefnyddio cyfryngau cymysg i ddarlunio breuddwydion, golygfeydd hanner-dychmygol ac ymweliadau rhyfedd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABOUT&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I grew up in Holyhead, <em>North<\/em> Wales and developed a passion for art, music and literature in school; finding a particular affinity with the work and theories of Jean Dubuffet. Influenced by Dubuffet&#8217;s championing of &#8216;Art Brut&#8217; (&#8216;raw&#8217; art by untrained artists), I eschewed formal training in art and music, preferring to develop unconventional modes of expression and remaining essentially self-taught. I did pursue my interests in literature at an academic level, specialising in non-Western perspectives in Latin American literature at the University of Liverpool where I completed a PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My drawing practice is rooted in automatism and reflects my interest in cosmogonies. A drawing usually begins with random marks that form a base for the build-up of self-reflective lines, which take shape in response to the initial arbitrary gesture with accretive repetition. The rhythmic mutations that manifest through this process in turn generate self-perpetuating forms\u2013 forms that I sometimes elaborate to suggest a figurative or mythic dimension to the otherwise self-contained, abstract patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve also returned to the figurative sketching style of my childhood, using mixed media to depict dreams, half-imagined scenes and uncanny visitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cefais fy magu yng Nghaergybi, Gogledd Cymru a datblygais angerdd am gelf, cerddoriaeth a llenyddiaeth yn yr ysgol; gan ddod o hyd i affinedd arbennig \u00e2 gwaith a damcaniaethau Jean Dubuffet.
